Learning Together- Reading- Friday 9th January
Thank you to all the parents who joined us for our learning together session on Friday 9th January. The children really enjoyed reading with you. I hope it was useful to see how you can help your child with their reading comprehension at home. It is very important this year to develop the children's comprehension skills now they can read more fluently.
If you have any further questions about how to help your child with reading at home, please do not hesitate to come and talk to a member of the Year 2 team.

Wednesday 2nd March - calculations
This week we have been looking at calculations. We first looked at a set of calculations and tried to decide which we thought were easy and which were hard. Sometimes they are easier than you first think like 33-32 - we can just find the difference!
After this we looked at these arithmagons to practise our addition. We have looked a different strategies for adding like counting on or partitioning into tens and ones.

Wednesday 24th February - reading comprehension
In this week's session, we looked closely at a passage of text which described a character and collected as much information as we could to help us draw him. First we highlighted the key information and then wrote the information around a person shape:

The purpose of this activity was to encourage the children to look really closely at the text for key information and ensure they have read accurately.

Wednesday 18th November - reading.
During year 2, children become more fluent readers. In our learning together session this week we read Cinderella using our phonic and decoding skills and we found answers to questions in the text. After this we spent some time reading some books that we enjoyed and as well some activities which made us think carefully about the Cinderella story.
